A Quick Tour of the Dataset Screen

A dataset screen will look something like this:

Here's a quick description of each of the sections

  1. Data Entry

This is where you enter the data for your graph. There are only three columns showing here, but more can be created. For more information on the data entry area, see the introductory tutorial.

  2. Preferences Forms

This is where you make your graph look good. There are 6 tabs across the top of the form.

    • Data: Upload and download data. Create and delete datasets.
    • Graph: Show and hide graph titles and the legend. Download and share your graph.
    • Lines: Style, name, create, delete and set data for the lines on your graph.
    • Axes: Set the min and max range for the axes, and set whether they're logarithmic or linear.
    • Curve Fits: Create a curve fit for any of the lines on your graph. There's a tutorial on curve fitting if you're interested in learning more.
    • Error Bars: Add error bars to any of the lines on your graph.
  3. Graphs

Here are the actual graphs. You can switch between graphs using the tabs, or create a new graph by clicking on the 'new graph' tab. Any of the titles can be edited or moved by clicking on them.

  4. Dataset title

This is what shows up in the navigation box (see below). You can edit the title by clicking on it.

  5. The save button

Whenever you want to save your work or see what the changes you have made look like on the graph, click on the 'save data and update graph' button. You can also use 'alt+S' (Windows) or 'ctrl+S' (Mac).

  6. The Navigation Box

Use this to switch between your datasets or create a new dataset. Shift-clicking will open the dataset in a new window or tab.
